Kingsdale Meadow Cherry of ReedBed

Kingsdale Meadow Cherry of ReedBed holds a very special place in my heart and within my breeding programme. I was fortunate to acquire Cherry from Oliver Király at a time when I was looking to strengthen and preserve the qualities that had made my beloved Apple so influential. As Cherry’s sire was closely related to Apple, she represented the perfect addition to ReedBed, particularly as I had never retained a daughter from Apple herself.

From the very beginning, Cherry proved to be a remarkable working Labrador. To call her a workaholic would be an understatement. Whatever the task may be, Cherry approaches it with endless enthusiasm, determination and passion. Work is simply her greatest joy in life. Whether training, hunting or learning something new, she gives one hundred per cent and is never happier than when she has a job to do.

In the field, Cherry is exceptionally fast, stylish and athletic. She covers ground with ease and possesses tremendous drive and natural ability. Like many intelligent and capable females, she can occasionally have her own opinions about how things should be done and is not afraid to question my training plans from time to time! Her independent streak and strong character have certainly provided a few amusing moments over the years.

Away from work, however, Cherry reveals her softer side. She is an incredibly kind, affectionate and loving dog who forms deep bonds with those around her. Her gentle nature and generous heart make her a joy to live with.

As a mother, Cherry is nothing short of exceptional. She is devoted, patient and instinctively nurturing. Not only has she raised her own litters with remarkable care, but she also helped rear a litter of Golden Retrievers, treating them as if they were her own. Her communication with puppies is exemplary—clear, fair and endlessly patient. She teaches them with confidence and kindness, allowing them to grow and develop naturally.

Cherry embodies everything I value in a Labrador: outstanding working ability, intelligence, determination, kindness and an unwavering love of life. She has made an invaluable contribution to ReedBed and continues to influence the next generation through both her offspring and her example.
